Our online SoEasy Switch Kit provides the forms you need to switch your account from another financial institution to NuUnion.

How do I know which checking account is best suited for me?

Can I get overdraft protection on my free checking account?

Can I eliminate the fee on my Basic Checking and Checking Plus account?

You can avoid the monthly fee in any one of the following ways:

  • Keeping a minimum of $500 in your Basic Checking account or keeping $3,000 in any combination of deposit accounts
  • Keeping a minimum of $1,000 in your Checking Plus account or keeping $5,000 in any combination of deposit accounts

NuUnion deposit accounts include:

  • Savings
  • Checking
  • Certificates of Deposit
  • Money Market Accounts

How will ATM refunds appear on my statement?

For E-Checking and Collegiate Checking: The two refunded transaction fees and the two refunded surcharge fees allowed at non-NuUnion ATMs will be refunded the same business day.

Can I receive my canceled checks back in the mail?

Because returning canceled checks is cost-prohibitive, NuUnion scans each canceled check and keeps the image on file. These scans are accepted as proof of payment. For your protection, we destroy the original soon after scanning. You can view an electronic image of your checks through Internet Banking. You can also request copies of checks by phone.

How do I get a copy of a check?

Through Internet Banking, you can view and print electronic images of your checks at no charge. You can also call our Member Contact Center at 517.267.7200 or 888.267.7200 and provide the check number and the date it cleared your account. We will e-mail or mail a copy of the check to you. There is a $3.00 charge for each check copy you request.

What if my checkbook balance differs from my statement balance?

If you believe NuUnion made an error regarding your account, please let us know, and we will research the discrepancy. We want you to be certain your account is correct.

Why should I use blue or black ink when writing checks?

When we scan your canceled check for our files, the only ink colors that reproduce properly are black or blue. If you use a color like red or purple to write your check, the scanned image will appear to be a blank check.

What if a check clears for the wrong amount and/or check number?

Call our Member Contact Center at 517.267.7200 or 888.267.7200. We will review the scanned image of the check and make the correction.

Yes. You can also use other documentation, such as your acceptance letter, class schedule, tuition bill, etc.

Why is the age limit on the Collegiate Checking 23 years old?

This type of account is designed for college students who are on a tight budget. You'll find many of the same features in our E-Checking account, which has no age limit.
